Who can be your witnesses

You need two witnesses. Banks and HM Passport Office set their own rules, and a number of them refuse a deed poll signed in front of only one. They check the rules below too — a deed poll witnessed by the wrong person can be rejected.

Friends, neighbours, colleagues or a manager are all fine. You do not need a solicitor, and there is no minimum time they need to have known you.
