UK Name Change is a service provided by Custom Coded Websites Ltd, trading as UK Name Change, preparing deed polls and statutory declarations for individuals across the UK. These Terms govern your access to our website and the use of our services.

Legal Standing of Documents
The deed polls we produce are unenrolled deeds of change of name, which take effect when signed and witnessed. The statutory declarations we produce take effect when sworn before a solicitor or commissioner for oaths. All are professionally prepared in accordance with the law of England and Wales. While we ensure professional preparation, this service does not constitute legal advice.
1. Service Overview
UK Name Change prepares name documents for individuals in the United Kingdom: deed polls for changing a name, a retrospective deed poll pack for a name changed in the past without paperwork, and a statutory declaration for reconciling different versions of a name. Our documents are prepared in accordance with the law of England and Wales and are widely accepted for legal purposes.

- The deed is signed in front of your witnesses; the declaration is sworn in person before a solicitor or commissioner for oaths, whose statutory fee (£5) you pay to them
Name Discrepancy Declaration
- Two printed originals of a statutory declaration that the different versions of your name refer to one and the same person

Delivery Options
- Royal Mail Tracked 24 delivery (usually the next working day, 1–3 working days at most)
- Additional original copies available in 4, 8, 10, 12 or a custom quantity
Service Limitations
- We prepare documents only. We do not witness deeds or administer oaths: your witnesses do the first and a solicitor or commissioner for oaths does the second.
- We do not provide legal advice, court representation, or assistance with complex legal matters requiring a solicitor.
- We do not guarantee acceptance of documents by third parties such as banks or schools.

Prohibited Uses
We cannot process deed polls for names that are:
- Intended to defraud or mislead
- Offensive, vulgar, or inappropriate
- Containing numbers, symbols or punctuation (a hyphen, or an apostrophe in an established name such as O'Hara, is allowed)
- Attempting to impersonate public figures
- Related to avoiding legal obligations
Additional Discretion
We reserve the right to refuse service for any names deemed inappropriate, unlawful, or contrary to our service standards.
3. Legal Validity
Our documents are professionally prepared in accordance with the law of England and Wales and are widely recognised across the United Kingdom.

Additional Copies Pricing
The pricing shown above applies to printed copies sent via Royal Mail Tracked 24. All orders include a tracking number for delivery confirmation.
Delivery Notes
- Delivery times exclude weekends and UK bank holidays.
- Rural addresses may experience slight delays.
- Orders placed before 3 PM on a working day are dispatched the same day; later orders go the next working day.
- We are not liable for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, including postal strikes, natural disasters, or system outages.
6. Customer Responsibilities
To ensure a smooth process, customers have the following responsibilities:

- Confirm delivery addresses are correct
- Report any errors to us immediately
Document Execution
- Sign documents correctly according to instructions
- Obtain witness signatures where required
- Follow all execution guidelines provided
- Parents/guardians must ensure all required consent and signatures are correctly provided for child deed polls
- Keep original documents safe; we are not responsible for loss or damage after delivery
Notification Duties
- Inform relevant institutions of your name change
- Update your records, including banks, employers, and government departments
We are not responsible for any issues resulting from your failure to notify institutions or follow instructions.
7. Our 30-Day Guarantee
Every document we sell comes with a 30-day guarantee: a free reprint if you made a mistake on your form, and a full refund if we got something wrong or your documents have not arrived. There is no approval step and nothing to send back.
A mistake on your form
- Tell us within 30 days of purchase and we will reprint and repost the corrected document free of charge, whether or not the original has already been dispatched.
Our mistake, or it has not arrived
- A full refund to your original payment method, or a free reprint if you would rather, within 30 days of purchase.
- Not arrived: once Royal Mail tracking shows no delivery we reprint at once, or refund you if you prefer.
How to claim
- Email contact@uknamechange.com within 30 days of your purchase date, quoting your order reference.
- Refunds reach your original payment method within 5 working days of your email.
- You do not need to return anything.
Your statutory rights
- Our documents are prepared to your personal details, so the 14-day cancellation right in the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 does not apply to them (regulation 28(1)(b)). This guarantee applies instead, and nothing in it affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
- A change of mind alone, where nothing has gone wrong, is not covered by this guarantee.
- Any fee you pay a solicitor or commissioner for oaths to swear a declaration is paid to them, not to us, and is outside this guarantee.
8. Limitation of Liability
While we strive to provide excellent service, our liability is necessarily limited by law and practical considerations.

- We cannot guarantee acceptance by specific third parties or outcomes of name change processes beyond our control.
- This service does not constitute legal advice.
Liability Limitations
Excluded Damages
Indirect or consequential losses, loss of profits or business, data loss or corruption, rejection of documents by third parties.
Maximum Liability
Our total liability for any claim arising from this service is limited to the service fee paid.
These limitations do not affect statutory rights under UK consumer law.
Third-Party Disclaimer
We are not liable for decisions or actions taken by banks, government departments, educational institutions, or other third parties regarding your name change.
